Windows XP Home Edition SP3 | All the latest updates (Verified w/ Belarc
Advisor) | Recent AV scan w/ Eset Smart Security, up-to-date and fully
operational | System, Asrock X48 Turbo Twins WI FI, CPU E8500 (OC 4.05 GHz),
4 GBs Corsair (2 x 2 GBs) dual channel DDR2 1066 (Underclocked @ 850 MHz)
1:1 FSB/DRAM Ratio, Network adapter, Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) PCI-E
Gigabit Ethernet NIC. LAN connection using wired ethernet to cable modem,
LAN properties uses Eset Personal Firewall and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
only. This is a stand-alone computer that is connected only through my cable
ISP. All system drivers are current.
I flashed the latest BIOS around December 25th, roughly the same time the
following error relating to IPSEC service began occuring. ( I did not notice
the errors until today). I have not had any connection problems and IPSEC
depedancies services appear to be working. I had several hardware,
(overclock) related, bugchecks that occurred after the BIOS update because
the CMOS defaults were set and I had to reset all timings and voltages that
I should have recorded. The bugchecks were recorded in the event log just
after the network adapter initiated a connection. The system is currently
running stable (7 hours @ Prime95), but some files may have been
compromised.
This System error occurs immediately following the event that says my
network adapter has established a connection on every boot-up. There is are
corresponding errors in the Security event log, (see below). When I try to
manually start IPSEC service the same error is set in System event log,
error 1747; authentication service is unknown. I have the IPSEC service
disabled presently. I have run system file checker successfully and chkdsk.
I ran netsh winsock reset. I ran the repair network connection. The option
to uninstall TCP/IP is greyed out so I did not try that. I read of this new
news group while googling the event error and thought I would post it here.
I'm kind of at a standstill on where to go from here. I have WinDbg and
Windows support tools installed but don't have much experience using them.
